Finished Praetorian Macharius tank crew

Finally after finishing the tank itself over a month ago I have finished the crew!

Here we have the Tank Commander (a suitably Praetorian name for him will surely follow) and the driver before I started painting.

And here we have the finished Commander before he boarded his tank! (The driver was already in the tank at this point)

Here we have the fully completed Macharius Vanquisher complete with crew. I don't have ideal photo taking conditions here, but you get the idea!

Finally finished. Now on to the next project! Time to spray a bombard and a hydra... then I reckon I need a baneblade... I just love painting tanks!

I'd love to hear what you think about what is undoubtedly the centrepiece of the 4th Mechanised. Also any ideas for the name or title of the commander would be appreciated!

  1. Exemplary work - that Macharius is truly a thing of beauty! The crewmen add a ton of flavor to it, it's really come to life!

...Darn it, my wallet can't take another hit, but at some point soon I'm going to have to add a Macharius to the 7th. :)

Can't wait to see what's next!

  2. Really great figures you've got there. They are both very characterful. The whole thing looks great, keep it up.

  3. The scheme on the Commander makes me think of Lawrence of Arabia. Or maybe I'm just fixated on the white scarf over sand uniform?

    Lawrence. Call him Lawrence. :)

  4. Excellent looking tank and crew. The crew really help to finish the model off

  5. Thanks everyone. Dai, I think maybe you are on to something with Lawrence, he is already a bit of a maverick with his non regulation uniform - no Command Braids, the white scarf, generally not as smart as regulations require! Perhaps I should write a short bio about this guy...
Mordian, do it, I'll buy another if you do...

  6. I really think you should. :) Centerpiece tank needs a commander with character.

  7. Wow, such a nice model and the commander really finishes it off, superb work! I love the way it dominates the photo as the centrepiece of your army! You can also see the progression of your tank painting across the army as the colour changes and gets ever so slightly darker and with this guy, the end of the evolution, the scheme is just awesome! Its always great to see what you've been up to as it is generally pretty inspiring stuff!

  8. Just saw your model on the what's new today blog, congrats!
